Santa Clause led the children in a countdown to light the Christmas Tree and Menorah! The Manhattan Holiday Carolers harmonized a capella, drawing cheers. Hot cocoa and cookies served by volunteers warmed our bellies with Baklava and other Turkish treats donated by the new cafe concessionaire, Taskin Bakery.

Assemblyman Alex Bores joined the festivities on his way to other tree lighting ceremonies.

The Friends of Dag Hammarskjold Plaza and the Turtle Bay Association (TBA) produce this annual event, sharing equally in the expenses with support from the Vanderbilt YMCA.

Many thanks to the Parks Department for installing the electrical connections for the 6 lighted trees in fountains and the big tree in entrance dome, as well as a pole tap for the Menorah.
Friends sponsor the trees in fountains and the holiday wreath while TBA underwrites the big tree in the entrance dome.
