Storytelling for Kids with Award-Winning Authors and Artists, June 7 from 10 AM to 12 Noon at Dag Plaza

Tap into the world of imagination and fantasy with renowned creators of children’s entertainment. Tailored for pre-K to 2nd grade and anyone interested in the crafting educational content, this event features celebrated authors and artists reading from their books and a renowned Turtle Bay journalist who plays harmonica. 

Meet at the Kid’s Discovery Garden, Oasis Juice Bar Cafe in Dag Plaza. Free snacks with coloring supplies and stories for kids. In case of rain, the party moves inside cafe.

WHO’S WHO 

Christopher Cerf is an Emmy and Grammy award-winning author, composer and producer best known for writing hundreds of songs for Sesame Street television. His children’s books include a Skunk in My Bunk. Before joining Sesame Street, Cerf spent eight years as a senior editor at Random House (co-founded by his father) where he worked with authors like Andy Warhol and Dr. Seuss.(Theodor Geisel). Warning: His humor is contagious! 

Melanie Hope Greenberg is a renowned illustrator and author based in Brooklyn. She presents elementary school workshops and picture book craft at conferences, libraries, and museums worldwide. Her collaboration with UNICEF and the Children’s Defense Fund highlights a commitment to both artistic excellence and social impact. Influences from real life, diverse cultures, and urban communities enliven Greenberg’s art and storytelling. 

Margie Goldsmitha Turtle Bay resident and journalist, has profiled celebrities and travel destinations in publications from Travel & Leisure to Vanity Fair, earning numerous writing awards. Her travels span 145 countries. A harmonica enthusiast, she even taught blues harmonica to Pygmies in Uganda. When visiting foreign countries, she gives away Hohner harmonicas to school children. “Music is a universal language…It’s my passport to the world.” Her book, Masters of the Harmonica, became a #1 Amazon bestseller.
